A cultural landmark in the heart of North Cork.
Located in County Cork, Doneraile Court was the home of the St Leger family from 1645 until 1969 when it came into State care and is now managed by the OPW. The house is set in a magnificent 18th century Capability Brown–style landscape, which frames it from different vistas within the park.
The landscape has many specimen trees dating from this period, including many Oak, Beech, Spanish Chestnut and Lime. Some Larch trees on the estate are believed to be the first specimens planted in the 1730s. There are also many water features on the estate.
The River Awbeg flows through the middle of the park and is considered to be one of the keystones of Capability Brown’s design.
Enjoy the new addition of access to the 18th and 19th century walled gardens under restoration, including Gardeners Cottages as part of the paid admission.
Experiences available by booking in advance. Please note Covid 19 restrictions apply.
